Glossary:

Grub: Common name for beetle larvae, also used as "grub worm".

Raster: This is part of beetle larvae anatomy located on the underside of the grub at the last segment.

Raster Patterns, Rasteral Hairs, Rasteral Setae: Patterns of "hair" (setae) on the rasters of scarab larvae that can be used for identification to species. This method of identification is only needed and used for a handfull of smaller species regularly considered as pests. Larger species and non-pest species of scarab larvae do not have keys for this type of identification.

Scarabaeiform larvae:  Typical shape of Scarab larvae. They often rest curled in a "C shape"

White grub: General name for Scarab larvae often used when referencing them as pests; can be used to specify May/June beetle (Melolonthinae) grubs.
